An oil filter is common replacement item for any car owner and should be replaced at regular intervals along with the engine oil and drain plug gasket.  An oil filter helps keep contaminants out of the oil and allows oil to flow freely during starts in cold winter weather when the oil is more viscous.

Using a high quality oil filter during your service is crucial, an oil filter needs to meet the car manufacturers specifications to ensure proper flow and lubrication in all conditions and engine loads.  This MANN filter is a high quality alternative oil filter for these SAABs.  It provides OE spec protection, is constructed of very high quality materials and adheres to strict standards.

This filter is a cartridge style oil filter.  Use a 24mm socket to undo the metal cap, remove the old cartridge filter and o-ring, apply a thin coat of motor oil or silicone grease to the new o-ring and the upper and lower seals, then finally press the new filter insert into the cap.  Tighten the cap to 18 ft-lbs.
