Your power steering system on your Volvo requires regular check ups for leaks and for fluid level.  This system shouldn't be neglected to the point where you can no longer parallel park downtown! Hose fittings should be inspected for leaks and if present, the o-ring should be replaced.  Also, whenever a fitting with an o-ring is removed, it's a good idea to replace it to ensure a good seal.

This o-ring is typically found on the steering rack where the high pressure lines connect to it or where the high pressure line connects to the power steering pump.

It's essential to replace this o-ring when changing a power steering pump, so that it can form to the new pump properly.  This ProParts Sweden unit is a good alternative to the OEM Volvo unit and yes, it is made in Sweden!
